We were bored in January...and we decided to try for something that had been staring us in the face for some time and we didn't have time to consider it. We were idle (for our standards)-- in January.
We are pleased to announce the demolition of the old Carmike Five Movie Theatre and redevelopment of the property at 2600 West Broadway in Ardmore. Five Kids Development, a partnership of Joel and Amy Wisian and Lance and Beth Windel, is compelled to take part in shaping the future of the landscape of the largest thoroughfare into our city... So our five kids can make memories (no kissing) there too! Lance and Beth, who you may know:), are wonderful, honest, hardworking people and have recently completed a 46 home affordable housing project to help our community. They. Don't. Mess. Around. Either.
It was fun while it lasted, though wasn't it? That movie theatre was where I saw my first movie E.T., where I had my first kiss, and where many others had many dates, memories, and after-movie garlic sticks at Pizza Hut and Mazzio's. I bet we could tell stories all week about "the movies." We've had fun talking about all that "goings on" recently.
We donated and sold all we could last week, we're ripping the interior out this week, and next week, the building is coming down and filling up a hole so more redevelopment can happen. "Waste not, want not" we hear is the theme for this decade and is also good for penny pinchers too!
Enough about Dirty Jobs, let's talk about Nordstrom and Cafe Express and Taco Diner, shall we? We have real inquiries already and are rolling out a huge marketing campaign for our site and Ardmore next week. We are evaluating the opportunities and will decide in the next little bit what we are going to do. Let us know (realistically:) what you want right there next to the best gas station and the coolest creek in town!
